There’s a difference between techinically good photos and photos that are great because of their content. Lots of Jenn’s images are pretty, are crisp lines and colors, but I find many of them somewhat boring because they look like postcards. I much prefer the ones with people or ones like these because they make me think. Their content is what draws me in. I look at this picture and I wonder where the dirt came from, why the footprintes are so high on the wall and so far into the dark hallway. I wonder what secrets are hidden down there….
I couldn’t disagree more that Jenn’s photos look “like postcards”. If postcards looked as good as her images I would own a lot more.
This is one of the few images that I would’ve accepted a bit of “cheating”. The angles, lines and footprints are so visually appealing but the photo is a bit flat.
However, this is so minor it doesn’t detract from the fact that you found and captured it.
I like the shadow and color in this one. Did you filter when you shot or is this just a dark day?
I am intrigued as Heather is by the story behind footprints on the wall. What a great sighting.

Heather, I couldn’t possibly disagree with you any more! Jenn’s photographs are ALL telling a story in their own way, or maybe asking a question like this one is. Where did those footprints come from? What is down the hallway? And so on. Other pictures, like of the children, or a bridge are telling of a personal moment that she had at that specific time or maybe what she was thinking about. I am actually quite shocked that anyone would find her photos boring.
And Allison, while this picture isn’t stunning in a technical way, I do have to argue that is a neat capture. It makes you wonder what the heck had to be going on for the footprints to be THAT high on the way.
Jenn has an special ability to take beautiful photographs of our nephews, buildings, cats, waffles, footprints, whatever else there is! And I must add that it is especially amazing as she has had no formal training.
While a neat image, not one of your better photos. It is too dark and grey. Was it a cloudy day?
Sorry to be critical but you usually post such technically amazing photos - if that makes sense.

But then again, I am weird so who knows?
